Lehia Murray

Preschool Minister

TVC Responsibilities:
I develop and execute the vision and direction of the Preschool Ministry, create curriculum that builds a spiritual foundation for children's lives in a safe and loving learning environment, and care for and develop Preschool staff and volunteers.

When and how did the Lord save you?
I grew up knowing about God and being very involved in a local church, but not having a good grasp on how much He loved me and what He had done for me through Jesus. I struggled with a lot of fear and shame around my relationship with Him and my inability to overcome my sin. After college, I became really close with friends who are now like family—including one that I eventually married! They helped me to see that the gospel is about death to life, not perfection, and that salvation can only be given by God—not earned. Once God opened my eyes to the depth of my sin and the depth of His love for me in Christ, I experienced an immense amount of freedom, and my life has never looked the same!

When did you come to TVC and what brought you here?
I actually attended a class at TVC before ever attending a worship service here. Through the STEPS program, I really came to understand so many things about myself, about the Lord, and even about TVC that I did not know before. When my husband (fiance at the time) and I began intentionally visiting churches, we found ourselves back at TVC, knowing that the biblical and gospel-centered teaching here were what we needed as we continued to grow in our faith. We became members in May 2016, I served as a Preschool volunteer for a year, before joining the Preschool staff as an intern in August of 2017.

If you had to give a TED Talk, what subject would you choose to speak on, and why?
I would speak on the mental load that often comes with being a wife and mother in the home, and how spouses and society as a whole can help to relieve that pressure!

If you were to have your childhood dream job, what would your job be?
I would be a singer!

Which fictional character would you be friends with in real life, and why?
Hermione Granger, because she is smart and strong inside and out.
